AGC PreCast Solutions has commissioned a second hollow core slab extrusion line at its Tema manufacturing facility, doubling installed production capacity for one of the company's fastest-growing product categories. The investment responds to sustained demand from commercial developers, residential builders, and public sector clients seeking faster floor system delivery.
Capacity Expansion
Before the upgrade, the factory averaged approximately 800 linear metres of hollow core slab output per month. With the new line fully operational, monthly capacity has increased to 1,600 linear metres, giving the business more flexibility to serve multiple large projects concurrently without extending lead times.
The installation also included new strand stressing equipment, a revised bed preparation workflow, and additional curing controls to improve consistency across slab depths and spans. Engineering teams completed factory acceptance testing before the first production runs were released for client projects.
Impact on Delivery Performance
Initial scheduling data shows expected lead time reductions of about 35 percent for standard slab profiles. That improvement is especially important for multi-storey residential and mixed-use projects where floor cycle speed directly affects the overall construction programme and financing timelines.
Management expects the expanded line to strengthen AGC PreCast's position as a preferred supplier for large floor plate projects in Greater Accra and beyond. Further automation opportunities are already being reviewed to support future growth in custom slab detailing and integrated service penetrations.
